Given designer Naeem Khan’s expertise in glamour and shimmer, it’s no wonder Taylor Swift recently tapped him to create a look for her European Eras tour. “I’ve designed for her on many occasions,” Khan shared. “She’s such a powerful artist.” His collaboration with Swift inspired some of the fringed mini dresses in his new resort collection, crafted with glass beads. “For Taylor, I mixed three different colors—black, silver, and gold,” Khan explained, though his resort dresses were available in bold reds or blues. “They’re fun little dresses that you can dance in. However, Khan’s latest resort evening collection wasn’t solely inspired by Swift. He aimed to strip things back and focus on refinement and quiet elegance. Known for his intricate beadwork, Khan chose to forgo heavy embellishments this time, favoring dazzling sequins and intricate lacework instead. “This season, I needed to take a step back and make real clothes for the travel and party season,” he said. “I wanted to bring simplicity back to glamour.”

The collection’s highlights included black, long-sleeved column gowns with bursts of gold or silver sequins on the front. “It almost looks like electricity—a zap of static in the front,” he described. A burgundy sequined halter gown, adorned with a rosette at the neckline, was designed for comfort and easy packing, perfect for jetsetters. “We used incredible stretch materials that don’t wrinkle,” Khan noted.

Despite the streamlined designs, Khan ventured into voluminous ball gown territory, one of his signature silhouettes. Sugary pink A-line gowns featured an embroidered raffia overlay. “You twist the grass and embroider with it, then give it a metallic sheen,” he explained. “It gives a great structure.” Floor-length, powder-blue gowns were also created with custom lace.

For the more understated customer, Khan experimented with textural treatments. One dress featured silver and black sequins arranged in a tweed-like fabric. “For when you want to feel glamorous, but a little understated,” he said. “I just wanted the clothes to be realistic, wearable, modern, and fun.”
